Moving Forward for Fellowship

GOALS 2006

A Congregation Council weekend retreat in January 2006 resulted in extensive discussion about "who we are," "where we want to go," and what it means to be "church" as the people of Fellowship Lutheran. We related our conversations to the spiritual, the communal, and to service.

We intend to focus on these areas:

  • RIC - Reconciling in Christ: the process of becoming a Lutheran congregation that  intentionally welcomes gays and lesbians. This will be a 3+ step process. We will begin with a Lenten Bible study, "Bible Exposé," that will explore what the Bible has to say (and not say) about homosexuality. During the summer, on a weekly basis, Part 2 will focus on human sexuality and gender.  In part 3, we will concentrate on the justice implications of RIC.  We need to learn together.
  • Updating our original constitution to better reflect current realities and future endeavors – this is a 2 year process.
  • An examination of our building - the structure itself and our vision for the future of Fellowship as it relates to the building
  • Focus Groups - Youth and Family
